Reflection:
Write
down your first impression of the book or play. Ask some questions. Write down
quotations. Copy whole passages that are difficult or that you really like a
lot.
On the
first pages I noticed immediately that Christopher is a curious boy, because he
saw a dead dog and he analysed everything about the dog. Christopher lives in
his own world. He’ s very intelligent and loves maths and especially prime numbers.
My first impression is that Christopher is on one side very different than me,
but on the other side very much like me. He is quiet and reserved, but he likes
dogs and he is quite sensitive, as you can read by the fact that he hugged and
stroked the dead dog. The beginning was exciting, but there are too many
changes from section to section.
Quotations:
P. 8-9 row 26: “The policeman took hold of my arm and lifted me onto my feet. I
didn’t like him touching me like this. And this is when I hit him.”
I
don't know why Christopher gets angry so fast, but it shows that he doesn't
want to be touched and that he has a weak personality. This is also the section
which is difficult for me and which I like very much, because I want to
understand why Christopher acts like that.
Interesting. Why do you say there are too many changes from section to section? You mean that he is jumping from telling the story to saying something that seems irrelevant to it? Why do you think the author wrote it like that?
AntwortenLöschenI think he never brings his stories to an end. He starts to explain something and while the climax, he changes the whole story again. My point of view is that he the author wants to tell everything about Christopher’s personality and why he is the person he is.
AntwortenLöschenAh, now I know what you mean. So he wrote it like that to better show Chris' character then?
AntwortenLöschenSorry for the delayed answer. Yes I think that's the reason. :)
